Meet Our Staff

Donna King

Owner / Agent

Donna started with King Crop in 2011 after a 20-year career with The Washington Post working in distribution management.  She is a graduate of Wor-Wic Community College with continued education at the University of Maryland.  Throughout Donna’s career her focus was always providing quality customer service and her years in customer service has proven to be a great asset to King Crop.  She resides in Lewes, Delaware with her partner, Gary Lord.  They love spending time traveling to new places, spending many weekends on the Delaware beaches surf fishing and spending time with family.

“I spent many years as a young child assisting my mother with stuffing envelopes, filing paperwork and other odd jobs for crop insurance but never thought I would end up in the business.  Most of my adult life was spent in an urban area and with big corporate jobs but when I had the opportunity to join the business my first thoughts were of my father.  When he started this business in 1967, I don’t think he ever thought three of his four girls would be involved in running it 50+ years later.  I know he and my mother are always watching and for that reason alone I know I have a great responsibility to the farmers and farm families to provide quality and outstanding service.  The relationships and friends we have made over the years are invaluable and will always be near and dear to my heart.”

Jackie King

Owner / Agent

Jackie started her career with King Crop in 1987 when she joined founder and her mother, Catherine King.  Jackie learned the business from the ground up as a youngster visiting farmers, answering phones, stuffing envelopes with her mother.  She knew early on she wanted to stay involved with farming. While attending the University of Delaware College of Agriculture, Jackie worked through college as a data collector for NASS and as an FCIC crop loss adjuster. After graduation, she worked as a crop insurance agent recruiter, and processor working in a regional crop insurance service office in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  In 1987, Jackie returned to Delaware and entered the family business with her mother, Catherine.  Jackie serves on the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation Board and stays involved in Delaware Farm Bureau.  Jackie also stays updated with the regulations affecting farmers locally and nationally,

Jackie loves spending time with her husband Kevin, family, and friends.  Favorite pass time are reading non-fiction, gardening, watching Orioles baseball, visiting new places and being on the water at their Eastern Shore of Virginia home.

“My passion is agriculture but the men and women that produce our food are in my heart.”

Justin Pobst

Processor / Administrative Assistant

Justin joined King Crop in March of 2013 to assist with phone calls, greeting customers and assisting agents with whatever we needed.  He joined us after a ten year career in the retail industry and was ready for a change and ready to jump into the family business.  Justin is the son of Bonny King…. the sister that spent 38 years as a nurse at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.  Over the past ten years Justin has built relationships with our farmers that have become invaluable to our office.  Over time Justin has assumed more responsibilities such as assisting with acreage reports, collecting production history and all the many things we need to do to keep the wheels turning.

“The one thing about this job and company I enjoy most are the friendships I have fostered with our many customers.  Knowing what I do everyday aids in keeping the world fed and helping our farmers remain profitable.”

Lucas Clifton

Agent

Luke joined King Crop in May of 2021 as a licensed agent and hit the ground running.  Luke was born in Milford, Delaware and now resides in Milton with his wife and two sons.  His family has farmed in Sussex County for at least four generations and currently maintains a successful processing vegetable operation in Milton.  A graduate of the University of Delaware, Luke was an agricultural risk management specialist for fourteen years prior to coming to King Crop.

Luke enjoys playing guitar, running, Baltimore Orioles baseball and especially cooking/grilling.  He is happy to be raising his young sons in an agricultural environment so they can learn first-hand where their food comes from and not take for granted the hard work that goes into producing it.  His professional goal is to keep farmers operating as long as they wish and to keep current farmland in agriculture perpetuity.

“My family is my everything – my wife and sons are my greatest joy.  I know many farmers who feel the same way about their families, and it is my priority at King Crop to protect that way of life.”

Connor Vincent

Processor / Agent

Connor joined King Crop the summer of 2022 to assist with acreage reporting and in the fall she became a licensed agent / processor.  She grew up on her family farm (Vincent Farms) in Laurel, Delaware.  She began showing livestock at the age of eight and could be found traveling around the country with her parents and younger sister showing their flock of Suffolk and Border Leicester sheep.   Connor was an active member of Sussex County 4-H and Delmar High School FFA before attending college at NC State University where she graduated with an associate degree in Agribusiness Management and a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Campbell University.  She was an active member of Sigma Alpha sorority and Delta Tau Alpha honor society at NC State University and Delta Phi Epsilon sorority and Kappa Delta Pi honor society at Campbell University.  After spending two years in the classroom, she realized that she wanted to return to what she knew best, agriculture.  Connor enjoys spending time with her friends and family, working on weekends on the Tiki Boat in Ocean City and playing with her two miniature dachshunds.

“Growing up on a fifth-generation farm, I quickly realized that farming is not a 9-5 job but rather a lifestyle many of us have chosen. This lifestyle fostered my true passion and love for agriculture. At King Crop Insurance, we have an unwavering passion for agriculture and unique personal backgrounds that allow us to understand this lifestyle many may misunderstand.”

Honorable Mentions

Nancy

Nancy King

Retired Owner / Agent

Nancy joined King Crop in April 2006 when some changes were made in the crop insurance program, and it became more than one agent could handle.  Nancy graduated from the University of Delaware in 1973 with an Art History major and prior to joining King Crop spent 18 years at Townsend Inc. (now Mountaire Farms) in their purchasing department.  Nancy’s experience and knowledge in the poultry industry was an easy transition with many of our farmers working in the poultry industry as well.  Nancy decided it was time for retirement in 2021 but remains involved with the business and in touch with many of our customers.  She is spending her retirement traveling with her husband Joe Parker, catching up on all of her projects at home and keeping her sisters busy with projects outside of work.

Diane Lander

Retired Processor

Diane joined King Crop in December 2007 and was with us until December 2022.  Losing Diane was not only a loss to King Crop but a loss to every farmer we serviced.  Diane spent 15 years making sure every farmer never missed a reporting deadline, making sure every acre was accounted for and making sure every farmer’s claim was correct in addition to providing outstanding customer service.  She is missed and we know her shoes will never be filled in the same way, but she is off in retirement la la land.  Diane is spending her time helping take care of her grandson and throwing cornhole with anyone daring enough to challenge her.
